Course Buy-Out Options for Faculty Members

 
Faculty members with external research funding may have the option of teaching a reduced course load upon approval. Course buy-out requests should be made to the Department Chair at least seven months before the first day of classes for the relevant semester. The Chair forwards the request to the Dean together with their comments. The Dean in turn forwards the request to the Provost together with their own recommendation. The Provost informs the faculty member whether the course but-out has been approved or not. For faculty members whose normal teaching load is 2 (3) courses per semester, the price for one course is 6 (4) times the monthly net salary. For Fall (Spring) semesters, the May (July) salary is considered for the calculation.
