  • Physics (M.S. and Ph.D), Chemistry (M.S. and Ph.D), Mathematics (M.S. and Ph.D), Telecommunications and Networking (Non-thesis M.S.)

CGPA Requirements for all M.S. and Ph.D Programs:

  • M.S. applications and Ph.D applications after M.S. – Graduate School of Engineering and Science does not set a institution-wide minimum CGPA criterion for applications. However, applicants are advised to check out the individual programs for any program-specific criteria.
  • Ph.D applications after B.S – 3.00/4.00 (B.S. Graduation)

ALES:
M.S: 55 (quantitative)
Ph.D: 55 (quantitative, for those who hold an M.S. degree with thesis.)
Ph.D: 80 (quantitative, for those who do not hold an M.S. degree with thesis.)
(ALES is required from resident Turkish citizens who are applying for the graduate programs. Turkish citizens who are residents of foreign countries and those applicants who are not Turkish citizens may provide GRE scores instead of ALES.)

English Proficiency:
TOEFL IBT (at least 87 before 2026 or 4.5/6 after 2026), IELTS (at least 6.5 average and 5.5 from each section) or Bilkent English Proficiency Exam (at least C).

If you submit IELTS or Bilkent English Proficiency Exam results and you are applying for a PhD program, you also need to satisfy the foreign language requirement as imposed by the Inter-Universities Board (ÜAK) of Turkey. In that case, a minimum of 55 from YDS, e- YDS, YOKDIL, or its equivalents as listed by the Board, in a language other than the mother tongue must be submitted.
