The results of the TÜBİTAK BİDEB 2247-A National Outstanding Researchers Program 2023 application have been announced.
This program, which has garnered significant attention nationwide, aims to support projects that contain goals for breakthrough developments, address critical gaps in various fields and hold the potential for important discoveries. It also provides researchers with the opportunity to make significant contributions to their areas of expertise. Additionally, this program is viewed as a crucial support mechanism, helping researchers apply to the European Research Council (ERC) program with more competitive and high-success potential research projects.
According to the 2023 application statistics released by TÜBİTAK, a total of 193 researchers applied to the program, and 99 researchers were eligible to advance to the second stage. In the second stage, 95 researchers submitted applications, and a total of 44 researchers were selected for funding. Of the applicants, 22.8% were selected for support, and 46.3% of those who underwent the second-stage scientific evaluation received funding.
Among the nine researchers from Bilkent University and Bilkent UNAM who reached the second stage, seven were selected for funding. Bilkent’s success rate in this program was 77.8%, well above the national average.
The following researchers were selected for funding: UNAM Asst. Prof. Won Mi Ahn (UNAM), Assoc. Prof. Bilge Baytekin (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Ömer Dağ (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Refet Gürkaynak (Department of Economics), Assoc. Prof. Selim Hanay (Department of Mechanical Engineering), Asst. Prof. Onur Tokel (Department of Physics) and UNAM Asst. Prof. Hasan Yılmaz (UNAM).
