Bilkent University was established with the aim of being among the world’s leading universities in terms of education, scientific research and publications, as well as cultural and artistic activities.
Based on its founding purpose, the university places importance on implementing practices to ensure quality in education, research, and administrative processes that support these activities, as well as conducting both internal and external evaluation processes. With this goal in mind, a quality assurance system has been designed and implemented with stakeholder participation.
The Bilkent University Quality Commission adopts a participatory and transparent approach in ensuring that the university’s quality assurance activities align with institutional strategies. The commission considers stakeholder opinions in evaluation activities as a significant contribution to the continuous improvement and development of processes.
The university encourages accreditation efforts for its programs. Departments within the Faculty of Engineering have long been part of the ABET accreditation process, while the Faculty of Business Administration participates in AACSB International accreditation. The experience gained from these external accreditation processes benefits other programs, contributing significantly to the establishment of continuous improvement processes and the implementation of educational quality assurance subsystems.
Bilkent University was granted full accreditation for five years in 2021 under YÖKAK’s “Institutional Accreditation Program.” Bilkent is one of the first two universities in Turkey to receive full accreditation, the first foundation university to achieve this status, and the only university in Ankara to do so.
