A team of students from the Department of Management, have received a top award in this year’s Google Online Marketing Challenge.
The challenge is an opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+. Over 100,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated during the past eight years.
This year’s challenge attracted 1,700 teams from 80 countries. Awards were given in three categories: Global AdWords Business Awards, Google+ Social Media Marketing Awards and AdWords Social Impact Awards.
The Bilkent team members, Akif Karaismailoğlu, Arda Akat, Nihal Tokluoğlu, Nur Betül Özdemir and Hansa Kaya, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Timothy Scott Kiessling, were the Global AdWords Business Award winners for the Middle East and Africa region. They received their award at Google Dublin, the company’s headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is the first time a Turkish team has been a winner in the challenge.
