“The stories told by this heritage are powerful expressions of culture and place, weaving together personal and collective experience, reflecting the search for meaning shared by all. This heritage provides an anchor in a world of change, especially for local communities, providing records of cultural activities, reflecting the great diversity of expressions.”

Irina Bokova Director-General of UNESCO

The department of Communication and Design is in its 18th year since its foundation in 1998. Already in 1999 students from COMD started to plan a short film festival initiative they called PASO. Between 1999 and 2009 PASO was a collaborative meeting point for young national and international filmmakers with special guests from Germany, England, Italy, and Georgia. To celebrate the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (27 October) chosen by UNESCO, COMD opens its own archive and will screen a short film selection from the 2nd PASO film festival took place on Oct 27 at 17:00 in FB 309 in the Graphic Design building.

This year’s theme chosen for the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is “It’s Your Story – Don’t Lose It”.
