Title: Nanophotonics based on halide perovskites

Nanophotonics and meta-optics based on optically resonant all-dielectric structures is a rapidly developing research area driven by its potential applications for low-loss efficient metadevices. Recently, the study of halide perovskites has attracted enormous attention due to their exceptional optical and electrical properties. As a result, this family of materials can provide a prospective platform for modern nanophotonics  and meta-optics , allowing us to overcome many obstacles associated with the use of conventional semiconductor materials. Here, we overview the recent progress in the field of halide perovskite nanophotonics starting from single-particle light-emitting nanoantennas [3,4] and nanolasers  to the large-scale designs working for surface coloration, anti-reflection, and optical information encoding [6,7,8].

About the Speaker:
Professor Sergey Makarov received a Ph.D. degree in 2014 at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow, Russia), and Habilitated at the ITMO University (St. Petersburg, Russia). Currently, he is Professor, Head of Laboratory of Hybrid Nanophotonics and Optoelectronics, as well as Director of Shared Research Facilities on Nanotechnology at the ITMO University. He was a long-term visiting research fellow at Australian National University (Australia), City University of New York (USA), and Vienna Technological University (Austria).
He was awarded by Russian Presidential Award (2020), Medal of Russian Academy of Sciences for Young Researchers (2019), Gold Medal of Alferov’s Foundation (2017), Saint-Petersburg Government Award in the field of technology (2017), and many others.
Prof. Makarov published over 100 papers in leading journals including Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Laser&Photonics Reviews, Small, etc. Referee for various Russian, EU, and US grant agencies. Chair of Program Committee of International Conference “METANANO 2017”, permanent chair of International School on Advanced Light-Emitting and Optical Materials (SLALOM), and co-organizer of special sessions in many international conferences. The topics of his research activity include nanophotonics, halide perovskites, laser-matter interaction, nanotechnology, and optoelectronics.
