TRIN Event: “Screening of “Blue Velvet” by David Lynch”, 6:30PM April 7 2026 (EN)

SCREENING of “Blue Velvet” by David Lynch (1986)

College student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) returns home to his small American town after his father is hospitalized. Exploring the stylized suburbia of Lumberton’s Americana lawns and white fences, Beaumont discovers signs of something deeply amiss. Instead of leaving the matter to the police, Jeffrey and the police detective’s daughter Sandy (Laura Dern) pursue their own investigation. They are drawn into a disturbing network of coercion and violence, connected to a nightclub singer and a psychotic criminal. The film that brought David Lynch’s signature concerns to a wider audience, Blue Velvet implicates small-town American life in voyeurism and perverse desire, bringing into question the boundary between innocence and brutality. The screening is sponsored by the Bilkent Translation
Society and GE 250/1 points will be offered.
