“Hilbert Uniqueness Method for the Wave Equation”

Abstract: This is Senior project presentation.
The project studies the exact boundary controllability of the multi-dimensional wave equation.

Using the Hilbert Uniqueness Method (HUM), the control problem is transformed into an observability inequality. Key steps include establishing hidden regularity, proving an observability estimate via multiplier methods, and showing that the HUM operator is an isomorphism using energy arguments. The analysis confirms that the wave equation is exactly controllable due to its time-reversibility. The approach is also extended to multidimensional domains with geometric control conditions.
