HRC Event: “Award Ceremony for 3rd Essay Competition”, 5:30PM November 12 2025 (TR)

The Bilkent University Human Rights Center will hold the Award Ceremony for its 3rd Essay Competition on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Library Art Gallery.
This year’s competition theme is “Technological Surveillance and Human Rights.” The event aims to discuss the impact of digital surveillance practices—intensified by technological advancements—on human rights, and to raise awareness in this field.
Following the opening remarks, the ceremony will feature a presentation titled “The Limits and Possibilities of Law in Protecting Privacy” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Hatipoğlu Aydın from Hacettepe University Faculty of Law, and will continue with the presentation of awards to the winners.

Within the scope of the program, the following participants have been awarded for their essays:
Ms. Yurdagül Koca Ertan (First Place), Ms. Hatice Fatma Budak (Second Place and Ege Okant Special Award), and Ms. Figen Durak (Third Place).
*The Ege Okant Special Award is presented in memory of Ege Okant, a 2017 graduate of Bilkent University Faculty of Law who lost his life in the February 6, 2023 earthquake. The award is offered by his family to honor Ege’s memory and to encourage young scholars working in the fields of human rights and diversity.

The language of the event is Turkish.
Students who attend will receive GE 250/251 points.
