Film screening and conversation: The Motorcycle Diaries with José Rivera

Department of Performing Arts together with Department of Communication and Design presents: Academy Award nominated playwright José Rivera in conversation following a screening of The Motorcycle Diaries (Walter Salles, 2004). Moderated by Jason Hale the discussion will focus on Rivera’s work in theatre, film and television.

José Rivera is a playwright whose plays have been produced around the world and translated into several languages. His many plays include The House of Ramon Iglesias, Cloud Tectonics, and The Street of the Sun. Rivera’s screenplay for The Motorcycle Diaries was nominated for a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in 2005. His screenplay based on Jack Kerouac’s On the Road premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
