Explanation: Bongo Art Project is a social enterprise that views museums as highly important educational and experiential spaces and works towards making them accessible to everyone. The initiative addresses ‘Museum Accessibility’ within the framework of seven criteria and collaborates with the public sector, private sector, civil society, and academia. In its first implementation, it transforms the Anatolian Civilizations Museum into the first accessible museum in Turkey for visually impaired and low vision individuals on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. In its second museum, it collaborates with the Hadi Sign social initiative to transform the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum into Turkey’s first accessible museum for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals. Thirdly, it begins efforts to make the Republic Museum accessible for individuals with sensory sensitivities and those with autism. In addition to museum implementations, it initiates the Accessible Museum Archive project by partnering with Wikipedia TR and TEDU to create an inventory of accessible museums.
