Abstract: Research in educational sciences in Sweden has been heavily influenced by theory-oriented pedagogy and didactic tradition in Continental Europe, presenting an alternative approach to research and theory construction in the Anglo-American educational studies tradition. This presentation will focus on two externally funded research projects on teacher education, and discuss their designs, implementations, and outcomes. The questions of how theory might guide research in different ways, and what potential insights research could offer for theory construction will also be part of the discussion.
