Presenter: Selin Metin, PhD, Software Verification and Quality Assurance Manager, Orion Innovation

Abstract: As we change the way we approach our work, and as we focus on increasing our efficiencies to deliver our projects to our stakeholders with higher quality products, it is helpful to focus on “Leaning out the waste.” Lean software development focuses the team on delivering Value to the customer, and on the efficiency of the “Value Stream,” the mechanisms that deliver that Value. During this seminar we will summarize the principles of Lean Software Development and study some real-life projects from this perspective in which we will see the impacts of (not) applying lean principles in project plans.

Bio: Dr. Selin Metin received her BSc. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Yıldız Technical University in 1999 and her MSc. and PhD. degrees in the same field from Istanbul Technical University in 2002 and 2013 respectively. Throughout her career she worked as a R&D engineer in several companies delivering products in international markets such as automation, telecom, consumer electronics, finance. She spent 15+ at Netaş – NetRD – Orion Innovation contributing to telecom and media projects as a software architect and technical manager. She is currently R&D Strategies and Innovation Project Manager and runs projects with international teams in the media division. She is also a part-time member of ITU Faculty of Computer and Informatics Engineering.
