You are cordially invited to the Communication and Design Department’s third-year studio course final project exhibitions that will take place on the 26th and the 28th of December at the FADA Exhibition Hall.
Our students have been working to produce digital media-based expanded media projects, with each exhibition inspired by an author and musician duo. We look forward to seeing you there! Details for the exhibitions are as follows:
Exhibition 1: Portraits of a Mirror
Takes place: 12:30 – 16:20, Thursday, 26th of December, at the FADA exhibition hall
Inspired by: Oscar Wilde + Björk
Statement: Oscar Wilde and Björk both reflect how the times the people live contribute to the appreciation and acceptance of the art that is created by singular voices. Björk’s commitment to self exists for decades in stark contrast to the oppressed gaze in which Wilde viewed the world and the Victorian British culture that clouded who he was. This exhibition seeks to dive deep into these themes of self-expression amidst this kind of oppressive societal isolation.
Exhibition 2: Echoes of Devotion
Takes place: 12:30 – 16:20, Thursday, 26th of December, at the FADA exhibition hall
Inspired by: Muhibbî + Hayko Cepkin
Statement: This exhibition seeks to contrast and connect the distinct energies of Hayko Cepkin and Muhibbî, spanning a wide emotional spectrum. Hayko Cepkin’s art embodies raw emotion, rebellion, individuality, expressing inner turmoil, and modern existential struggles. In contrast, Muhibbî’s poetry reflects the spiritual devotion and timeless beauty of the Ottoman era. The ultimate goal of this exhibition is to fuse Hayko Cepkin’s chaotic and rebellious spirit with Muhibbî’s refined, soulful lyricism, creating an experience situated between modernity and tradition, chaos and order, rebellion and devotion.
Exhibition 3: Outsiders Inside
Takes place: 12:30 – 16:20, Saturday, 28th of December, at the FADA exhibition hall
Inspired by: Mary Shelley + Lady Gaga
Statement: Mary Shelley and Lady Gaga both portray and create outsider icons with their artwork that are often struggling with questions of life and death. Through these unconventional creations, they bring to life this transformative power of creative works that can reshape the public and individual’s identity. This exhibition seeks to conjoin these singularly powerful individuals who are communally accepted but individually marginalized.
Exhibition 4: (There is) No Greater Life
Takes place: 12:30 – 16:20, Saturday, 28th of December, at the FADA exhibition hall
Inspired by: Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu + Amy Winehouse
Statement: This exhibition aims to reveal the artistically contrasting views on life found between the works of Amy Winehouse and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. While Amy Winehouse has a darker and more hopeless reflection on her experiences, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu reflects in a more naturalistic sense, partly as a coping mechanism. By bringing these two perspectives into dialogue, we will juxtapose how universal yet culturally specific life perspectives are processed and transformed into art. The exhibition invites viewers into the artists’ inner worlds by contrasting their personalities, emotions, and aesthetics, seeking to offer both personal catharsis and a deeper awareness of the shared human experience.
