Abstract:
The relationship between philosophy and mental health has at least two dimensions: First, there are philosophical questions about mental health, such as the conceptual questions about the meanings of mental health and well-being, or evaluative questions concerning their importance. Secondly, there are philosophical questions that we need to answer in our journey to improve our mental health, such as the questions about our personal values and our purpose in life. In this talk, we will consider various aspects of the intersection between philosophy and mental health, and we will examine some strategies to cope with the difficulty of philosophical questions that become more pressing as we focus on our mental health and well-being.
