Gökhan Tunç, PhD. (Biography)
Gökhan Tunç received his BS degree from Istanbul Technical University in 1994; his MS in Structures from Northeastern University, Boston, in 1997; and his PhD in the same area at the University of Cincinnati in 2002. He worked at YAS, a structural engineering firm in Manhattan, NY, between 2002 and 2006. He returned to Turkey in 2006, and was a partner at an engineering firm, YPU, in Ankara, between 2007 and 2013. Since 2013, he has been working as an assistant professor at Atılım University, where he teaches structural engineering courses.
Abstract:
The seismic design of buildings is performed based on dynamic analyses by considering fixed-base supports. Due to differences in the seismic responses of rigidly and elastically-supported buildings, it is essential to study the impact of the elastic behavior of soil on overall building design. This study will investigate the structural behavior of rigid basement walls with various support conditions.
