ABOUT THE EVENT
The Child Rights Meeting brings together university students, academics, practitioners and institutional representatives to discuss child rights in the context of the changing legal landscape, existing protection mechanisms and emerging challenges.
The event is organized within the scope of the ACAR Project, implemented by İzmir University of Economics, with the technical support of UNICEF and in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, with contributions from Bilkent University Faculty of Law.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The afternoon sessions will focus on the advocacy, implementation and institutional protection dimensions of child rights. Following sessions on UNICEF’s approach to child rights and advocacy and on the experiences and lessons learned through the ACAR Project, the programme will continue with the panel: “Effective Protection of Child Rights: Complaint, Monitoring, Accountability and Remedy Mechanisms”.
Bringing together academics and representatives of relevant institutions, the panel will address existing complaint and monitoring mechanisms, institutional accountability, and effective remedies in cases of child rights violations.
The meeting aims to provide a common platform for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, academics and practitioners to discuss how child rights can be more effectively protected within today’s and tomorrow’s legal ecosystem.
