The Abel Prize is one of the most prestigious awards in mathematics, honoring distinguished mathematicians for their outstanding lifetime achievements. This year’s laureate is Gerd Faltings, one of the towering figures in modern mathematics and a Fields Medalist in 1986.
The Department of Mathematics is organizing a mini-workshop on Wednesday, May 20, highlighting the mathematics of Faltings and his major achievements.
