Abstract:
This seminar will address the integration of academic achievements into practice within the field of interior architecture. It will demonstrate how academic knowledge influences interior architecture projects across various sectors, such as commercial spaces, airports, and public buildings. The discussion will encompass the contributions of interior architects to large-scale projects in the construction industry and their roles in the intermediate stages of a project’s progression from design to implementation. Additionally, the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in professional practice will be emphasized. The seminar will examine the interaction between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Furthermore, the significance of practice-based educational opportunities will be explored in bridging the gap between theory and practice. This seminar aims to cultivate an understanding of the reciprocal benefits of academic research and practical experience.
Bio:
Ekin Bayrak earned her B.F.A. in 2015 from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University. In 2016, she obtained a non-thesis master’s degree in Retail Space Design, Branding, and Shopping from Pompeu Fabra University, ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering. She completed her M.F.A. in 2022 from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Hacettepe University. That same year, she began her Ph.D. studies at Hacettepe University, in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and is currently conducting research for her Ph.D. thesis. Ekin started her career at Limak Construction in 2016, initially as a Technical Office Interior Architect on the Kuwait International Airport Project. For six years, she has served as an Interior Architect in the Superstructures Tender Department at Limak Construction.
