Title: Transforming Landscape: Multi-Scalar and Multi-Temporal Dimensions of Urban Design

Abstract: This presentation aims to cover the place – scale – temporality relationships in urban design, as observed within professional practices. These practical experiences shed light on the constraints shaped by the normative-based professional practice environment, while also examining the ways in which these constraints, as well as the approaches to urban space interventions, are transformed by the opportunities offered by the multi-scale perspective of urban design and the distinctive temporal characteristics of landscape.

Bio: Gizem Karabay Can studied urban design and landscape architecture at Bilkent University (2011) and completed her master’s degree in urban planning and policy design at Politecnico di Milano in 2016.
