Abstract: Bilkent University was founded in 1984 as the first private, non-profit university of Turkey. Currently, Bilkent University ranks 28th in the “2015 Times Higher Education 100 under 50” list of the world’s best young universities. Prof. Atalar is leading Bilkent towards one of the top research universities in the world. In this seminar he will share his insight about the past, present and the future of Bilkent.
In addition to his leading administrative role, Prof. Atalar is also a world-renowned scientist in the field of ultrasonic transducers. His work is focused on capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUT) that are MEMS-based transducers used for various applications ranging from medical imaging to airborne ultrasonic communication. In the second part of the seminar, Prof. Atalar will discuss his contribution on CMUTs.
