“Modular equations and approximations to 1/pi.”
Abstract: In this talk we will describe Ramanujan’s method of finding fast converging infinite series representations for 1/pi by using explicit evaluations of some modular functions. I will introduce modular equations, class invariants and give examples of some of Ramanujan’s derivations together with some recent work on the subject.
