Dear Colleagues and Students,
You are cordially invited to the Algebra Seminar organized by the Department of Mathematics.
Speaker: Laurence Barker (Bilkent)
“The Glauberman correspondence”
Abstract: We shall review the Brauer correspondence and then show how it can be used to obtain the Glauberman correspondence, whose classic special case can be (and originally was) expressed in terms of ordinary character theory: letting a finite p-group P act on a finite p-regular group V, writing U for the centralizer of P in V, then the P-fixed irreducible characters of V are in bijection with the irreducible characters of U. The talk will be pedagogical, a lecture, but the material has relevance to fusion systems of blocks and, in particular, the Gluing Conjecture.
