Composer Hanna Eimermacher delivers his first talk in the framework of Bilkent Composition Academy. All Bilkenters are cordially invited. Talk language is English.

Hanna Eimermacher was born 1981 in Duisburg and grew up in Gelsenkirchen-Resse, Germany. In the year 2002, her studies in composition led her to Younghi Pagh-Paan and Charlotte Seither in Bremen and consequently to Pierluigi Billone and Beat Furrer in Graz. She moved to Frankfurt am Main to graduate from the class of Furrer and to study as well with Mark Andre. This was followed by an invitation as a research scholar to the University of Buffalo, New York State by David Felder where she lived and worked from 2010-2011. There she taught in 2016 as a lecturer at the June in Buffalo Festival.

Hanna Eimermacher’s works are internationally performed in organizations and venues such as Donaueschingen Music Days, Acht Brücken Festival Köln, MaerzMusik Berliner Festspiele, Opera House Frankfurt am Main, Opera House Graz, Alte Oper Frankfurt am Main, June in Buffalo Festival NY, South-west SWR Southwest Germany Broadcasting Company Attacca, Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, Ircam Manifest Academy, Royaumont, Radialsystem Berlin, Opera de Reims, La Scala Paris, among others. She received residency scholarships from Villa Massimo, Rome, Villa Concordia in Bamberg, the Berlin-Rheinsberger Composition Prize and the BUSONI Composition Prize of the Berlin Academy of the Arts. She currently lives with her family in Gelsenkirchen and Berlin.

Bilkent Composition Academy is an international summer composition workshop primarily conceived for emerging composers. It aims to create multilayered networks among new music composers, performers, pedagogues, professionals and academics of several music related fields on interdisciplinary basis within Turkey, surrounding geographies, Europe, and worldwide.

Bilkent Composition Academy 2019, in short BCA19, is organized by Bilkent Saygun Center and held between June 24-29 in Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. Organizers are grateful to Music Norway, Ankara Norwegian Royal Embassy, Goethe-Institut, Tarabya Kulturakademie, and Norway Music Academy with special thanks to Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation for making BCA19 possible. All events will take place in Bilkent University Campus.
