Abstract: We explore the effects of changing system input parameters for a class of problems that arise in queueing and inventory control. In particular, we study how different system parameters (event transition rates, costs, rewards etc.) affect the optimal cost and the optimal policy in multi-dimensional control problems. To achieve this, we develop a framework that unifies existing models and a systematic approach that enables investigating the effects of parametric changes.
