Title: “Passive House Fundamentals”

ABSTRACT:
Passive House is a building standard that is truly energy efficient, comfortable, affordable and ecological at the same time. Passive House buildings allow for heating and cooling related energy savings of up to 90% compared with typical building stock and over 75% compared with average new builds. This seminar will take a dive into the design principles that drive Passive House performance, the wide range of building typologies possible, and how to become a certified Passive House designer or consultant. The contents will be: Insulation, Thermal bridge free design, Airtight construction, Heat recovery ventilation, High performance window, Innovative and sustainable building services, Come learn how to design homes and buildings that are safer for people and better for the planet.
BIOGRAPHY:
Tugba Salman Gurcan; is an Interior Architect and Environmental Designer graduated from Bilkent University in 2008. With a Master’s degree in Architecture: Sustainability and Design, she has a comprehensive knowledge in environmental subjects, especially sustainable and high-performance buildings. She is the 1st Certified Passive House Designer of Turkey and accredited Trainer by Passive House Institute – Darmstadt. She is the founding honorary president of Zero Energy and Passive House Association (SEPEV). She has consulted many Passive House projects in Turkey together with wide range of nZEB (nearly Zero Enegy Building) projects including housing, municipality building and office. Since 2021, she has been serving as board chair of passivhausMAINE. She has designed two low energy homes with Passive House standards which are currently under construction in Scarborough MAINE.
