Guidelines to faculty and students regarding Covid-19

During face-to-face lectures, laboratories, and studios:

1. Make sure that everybody is wearing a face mask covering their nose and mouth at all times. In case of unlikely non-compliance, remind the person to wear their mask and ask them to leave the classroom if they do not comply.

2. Use the ventilation fans in the classroom. Please follow the instructions posted in each classroom to ensure proper ventilation during the class.

3. You will be notified about students who are not allowed on campus on the day of your class, due to vaccination and/or testing status. You may also reach this information via AIRS. Please make sure that these students are not in your classroom. In case of non-compliance, ask the student to leave the classroom immediately and report the incident to the Department. In the unlikely event that the student does not leave the classroom, you may cancel the class and report the incident to the Department so that disciplinary action may be taken.

4. Ask your students to sit in the same seat each lecture. The university will ask all students to use an SRS service to enter the Bilkent ID numbers of their classroom neighbors in each course. Should a student be diagnosed with Covid-19, seating information will be used to effectively screen other students for rapid testing.

When an instructor is diagnosed with Covid-19:

1. Notify the Health Center and your Department immediately.
2. Isolate at home.
3. Make arrangements for classes to be missed by any combination of the following:

– Using spare hours to compensate for missed classes after your isolation period
– Arranging through your Department for a substitute instructor if possible
4. Resume face-to-face teaching when your isolation period ends.
