Film Gösterimi: “Pale Flower,” Masahiro Shinoda, FFB-05, 18:00 7 Aralık (EN Altyazılı)

On Wednesday, December 7 at 6 p.m. (FF-B05), Bilkent Cinematics will screen Masahiro Shinoda’s classic 1964 noir ‘Pale Flower.’

It’s the story of Muraki, a member of the infamous Japanese crime syndicate the Yakuza, who’s just been released from jail and takes up with Saeko, a young woman who encourages a new type of criminality in him. The film charts their thrilling but destructive course together.

A leading member of the so-called ‘Japanese New Wave’ who once worked under Yasujiro Ozu, Shinoda is one of Japan’s most influential directors. Critic Roger Ebert called ‘Pale Flower’ “one of the most haunting noirs I’ve ever seen…an exercise in existential cool.”

Everyone is welcome at Bilkent Cinematics’ events. Snacks and refreshments are served, and all films are shown with English subtitles.
