Title: Technological Innovations and Effects Across History

Dr. Mary J. Eberhardinger

Abstract: This presentation will discuss and question a few chosen technological or media innovations throughout history. Examples will include the alphabet, printing press, personal computer, smart phone, and AI. With each iteration across diachronic time, we feel a series of effects shaping how we orient ourselves and to others in everyday life. Whether for better or for worse remains within the eye of the media user. Please join us for a dynamic online talk by Mary Eberhardinger who will discuss media effects from a rhetoric of technology and McLuhan perspective.
