BSC Semineri: “A Computational Approach for Creating Orchestral Accompaniments from Piano Concerto Recordings”, Yiğitcan Özer, 11:00, 14:00 3 Kasım (EN)

Bilkent Saygun Center is honored to welcome audio technologies researcher and Bilkent graduate Yiğitcan Özer in Bilkent Campus, November 1-4, 2022. The residency takes place as part of a joint scientific endeavor by International Audio Laboratories Erlangen (Germany) and Bilkent Saygun Center aiming to process recordings of piano concertos via computational methods. The project envisions to create a pedagogical-artistical tool for the professional training of pianists at all levels.

Yiğitcan Özer will hold two talks and organize recording sessions of the piano parts of several piano concertos with renowned pianist Emre Şen, who is a former faculty member at Bilkent Music. The information regarding the public talks, which you are cordially in invited to, is given below.

Yigitcan Özer received a BSc degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, 2013, and an MSc degree in communications engineering at Technical University of Munich (TUM), 2015. Since January 2021, he has been pursuing a PhD degree in the research group of Prof. Dr. Meinard Müller at International Audio Laboratories Erlangen. In addition to his electrical and electronics engineering studies, he studied piano with Emre Şen and Gülnara Azizova at Bilkent University. In 2019, he received the Diploma of Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music. Currently, he is continuing his piano studies with Prof. Bianca Bodalia, Jin Jeon, and Edna Golandsky in Germany. After graduating from the TUM, he worked for three years in the industry and two years at Fraunhofer IIS, in the Spoken Language Processing group. His recent research interests include audio source separation, audio decomposition, music synchronization, automatic transcription, and text-to-speech synthesis.
