Film Gösterimi: “Hair,” Miloš Forman (1979), FB-309, 18:00 10 Ekim (EN)

Bilkent Cinematics will be screening Miloš Forman’s 1979 musical anti-war film, ‘”Hair”, on Wednesday, October 10.

Based on the 1968 Broadway musical “Hair: An American Tribal Love-Rock Musical”, the film follows the lives of two men against the backdrop of the hippie counterculture of the Vietnam era. Claude Bukowski (John Savage), a newly drafted young man from Oklahoma, goes on a self-guided tour of New York before his draft board-appointment. There he meets George Berger (Treat Williams), the leader of a tightly knit hippie “tribe”, and Sheila Franklin (Beverly D’Angelo), all of whom give his life a new spin.

This film not only brings up the issue of social inequalities, and the tension between personal versus communal responsibility, it also does a stunning job of recreating the rebellious and unapologetic spirit of the 1960s.

Writer Frank Rich has said that “Though every cut and camera angle in Hair appears to have been carefully conceived, the total effect is spontaneous”.

“Hair” screens on Wednesday, October 10, 18.00, in FB 309.
