“Drinfeld’s Elliptic Sheaves and Their Generalizations”
Abstract: Function fields of curves over finite fields behave in many ways like number fields, and this analogy has been a rich source of ideas in both directions. This talk is an introduction to function field arithmetic through Drinfeld’s work, from a more geometric point of view.
I will start with Drinfeld modules and their analogy with elliptic curves. Then I will introduce
elliptic sheaves, the geometric counterparts of Drinfeld modules. After that, I will discuss
some generalizations, including the D-elliptic sheaves of Laumon, Rapoport and Stuhler, and Frobenius-Hecke sheaves of Stuhler. Finally, I will introduce generalized D-elliptic sheaves, which include both of these, and describe some properties of their moduli spaces.
