Title: “Russian-Japanese Relations: Repeating Reversals” Date and Time: September 22, 12:30

Venue: A-130 Seminar Room, FEASS

Abstract: This lecture will explore Russo-Japanese relations from a historical perspective, taking into account the roots of bilateral contacts, cultural exchange, and military conflict. The gap between the two sides’ mutual images, the influence of third parties on both, and the numerous pendulum-like switches “from friend to foe” not only help us to understand Russian-Japanese relations today but also offer lessons for thinking through the international relations of Russia’s and Japan’s neighbors.
