Abdullah Atalar graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1974. He obtained his master and doctoral degrees from Stanford University in 1976 and 1978, respectively. He stayed on at Stanford as a research associate before coming back to METU as an Assistant Professor. He joined Bilkent University in 1986 and has been the Rector of the University since 2010. He is currently a faculty member at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and UNAM at the University, and is the Chairman of the Executive Board at Bilkent Holding. He is married and has three sons. <\/p>\n
