\u201cReading and Understanding: a Journey through Texts\u201d<\/p>\n
Abstract: It is generally assumed that the act of reading is an interpretive one. However, the interpretation depends on subjective experience, scope of knowledge under the belt of reader, and many other factors. This talk purports to show some facets of such factors by inviting the audience to embark on a journey through the texts. Authors to be considered are Borges, Karasu, Cortazar, Tanp\u0131nar, Perec, At\u0131lgan ve Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi, to name a few.<\/p>\n
Biography: G\u00f6khan Bar\u0131\u015f Bagci graduated from the Physics Department of METU in 1996. He completed a Master\u2019s degree in 1998 and a PhD in 2005 at Physics Department of Middle East Technical University under the supervision of Ramazan Sever. Additionally, he earned a PhD in Philosophy at the same university in 2006 with a thesis titled \u201cNew Directions in the Direction of Time\u201d under the supervision of Teo Gr\u00fcnberg. G. B. Bagci obtained another PhD in Physics from University of North Texas under the supervision of Donald H. Kobe.<\/p>\n
Bagci has been a visiting faculty in Mexico, Germany and Israel. In Turkey, he worked in Ege, TOBB ETU and Mersin Universities. Bagci works on quantum resource theories and statistical physics.<\/p>\n
