Dr. Aleksi Ylonen is Associate Professor of International Relations at the United States International University Africa. He holds a doctorate in International Relations and African Studies (2011 \u2013 Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid), a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Public International Law and International Relations ( 2008 \u2013 Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid), and International Master in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies (2005 \u2013 Universidad Jaume I, Castell\u00f3 de la Plan). He was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Turku, Finland, and a visiting researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Yl\u00f6nen is also a member of the African Studies Group at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. His work concentrates on states, armed conflicts, and security issues, and his geographical expertise area is the greater Horn of Africa. His research has been published in The African Journal on Conflict Resolution, The Review of African Political Economy, and The Journal of Peacebuilding and Development, among others. He is the author of El sue\u00f1o liberal en \u00c1frica Subsahariana.
