Lutz Peschke received two Horizon 2020 project grants

Assistant Professor Dr. Lutz Peschke from the Department of Communication and Design received two Horizon 2020 project grants from the European Commission.

He is the coordinator of the project “PandeVITA – Pandemic Virus Trace Application for the Effective Knowledge Transfer Between Science and Society Inside the Quadruple Helix Collaboration” of the Horizon 2020 call “Science with and for Society”. Together with partners from Finland, Germany, Spain and Belgium, he will develop a PandeVITA app and will analyze social awareness and acceptability of scientific recommendations and advices of applications for mobile devices. In PandeVITA, legal and ethical frameworks in different countries as well as decisions and sanctions of politics during the COVID-19 crisis will be analyzed. Additionally, different case studies about co-operations between science and society in health sectors during the COVID-19 crisis, societal voluntariness of participation and trust in knowledge exchange between science and society during the COVID-19 pandemic will be executed.

The second Horizon 2020 project, which received grant, is “EUOMEPLAT – European Media Platforms: Assessing Positive and Negative Externalities for European Culture” (call Societal Challenges – Transformations). EUOMEPLAT will be executed with twelve partners from Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Sweden and Czechia. The EUMEPLAT project aims at analyzing the role of media platforms in fostering or dismantling European identity. It will focus on the “platformization” process, as the rise of new closed Web architectures, so as to inquire its positive and negative externalities, functional and dis-functional consequences. For this purpose, the EUMEPLAT consortium will run a multidisciplinary analysis of platformization in three different fields: news, video sharing, media representations, with the final goal to offer a theoretical synthesis.
