All applicants are expected to have excellent command of Turkish as all of the graduate programs include compulsory courses in Turkish.
Admission interviews will be held both in Turkish and English.
ALES (EA): (For resident Turkish citizens)
LL.M. in Private Law and Public Law: 55 (equally weighted) (YÖK requirement)
Ph.D.: (equally weighted) (YÖK requirement)
ALES is required for resident Turkish citizens who are applying for LL.M (with thesis) and Ph.D. programs. Turkish citizens who are residents of foreign countries and those applicants who are not Turkish citizens may provide GRE or GMAT scores instead of ALES. ALES, GRE and GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.
GRE: (For foreign students)
LL.M. in Private Law and Public Law and Ph.D.: Verbal + Quantitative Combined 298 and 4 in the analytical writing part.
GMAT: (For foreign students)
LL.M. in Private Law and Public Law and Ph.D.: Total score of 600.
LL.M. and Ph.D.: TOEFL IBT (at least 87), or IELTS (at least 6.5 average and 5.5 from each section) or Bilkent PAE (at least C). Period of validity: 2 years .
If you submit IELTS or Bilkent English Proficiency Exam (PAE) results and you are applying for a PhD program, you also need to satisfy the foreign language requirement as imposed by the Inter-Universities Board (ÜAK) of Turkey. In that case, a minimum of 55 from YDS or its equivalents as listed by the Board, in a language other than the mother tongue must be submitted.
Citizens of Turkey who plan to submit TOEFL IBT scores must take the TOEFL IBT exam at one of the test centers in public universities (YÖK requirement).
Applicants who are not Turkish citizens should provide a language certificate in Turkish (at least C1 level), unless they have earned their undergraduate and/or graduate degree from a Turkish university.
Proof of Degree:
LL.M. in Law and Economics: Bachelor’s Degree;
LL.M. in Private Law and Public Law: Bachelor’s Degree in Law
Ph.D. Bachelor’s and Graduate Degrees in Law.
Applicants holding Bachelor’s Degree in Law and/or LL.M. degrees obtained from Universities abroad are required to submit diploma equivalence provided from the Turkish Council of Higher Education
