Best Practices Award from Zero Waste Summit

The third “Zero Waste Summit and Award Ceremony” organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change was held at the Haliç Congress Center in İstanbul.

The Zero Waste Project aims to control waste within the framework of sustainable development principles and to leave a clean and developed Turkey and a livable world for future generations.

At the Zero Waste Summit and Award Ceremony, 48 awards were given in 12 categories. The award is given to institutions and organizations that fulfill the criteria for the establishment of a zero waste management system within the scope of the Zero Waste Regulation and ensure the gradual dissemination and sustainability of the system.

The Zero Waste Best Practices Award was given to Bilkent University, Yıldız Technical University and Niğde Ömer Halis Demir University in the University category.

In addition to the implementation of the zero waste management system at Bilkent University and the completion of the certification process, rainwater is collected in the lake area with canals and green area irrigation is carried out with smart irrigation technique. The labels of the collection equipment used throughout the university were designed by students.
