Innovations in technology become truly meaningful when they could transform the way we live in our daily lives. This is true for the innovations all the way down to component level as well, which undoubtedly plays instrumental role for smartphone to revolutionize our mobile experience. In this talk, we review key examples of such component level innovations during the course of smartphone evolution focusing on Application Processors(AP) and Image Sensors, and try to find common lessons to prepare for the era of 4th industrial revolution
Bio: Dr. Kyushik Hong is Vice President of Marketing at Samsung SDI Co. Ltd., Korea, responsible for product planning, application engineering as well as worldwide sales and marketing. He held several executive positions at Semiconductor Division ofSamsung Electronics Co. Ltd., including VP of Marketing, VP of Product & Test Engineering and VP of Quality and Reliability, working on various aspects of semiconductor solutions including Application Processors, Cellular Modem, Image Sensors, Display Driver ICs, Smart Card ICs, Power Management ICs for mobile applications. Prior to join Samsung, he worked at Conexant Systems (Formerly Rockwell Semiconductor Systems), Newbury Park, CA, US, where he developed RF and High-Speed semiconductor devices for wireless and fiber-optic communication systems. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, US and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.
