Abstract
The heart of a civilization throbs wherever people come together to work, play, shop, study, perform or just interact. In crowded places, we share the richness and diversity of human experience as well as its challenges. In such places, people may find their way. Wayfinding/signage system design provides guidance and the means to help people feel at ease in their surroundings.
For many years, planners designed the city, architects planned the buildings, interior designers addressed the interior, and signage system designers created the signs. It is believed that signage system design/wayfinding (environmental graphic design) bridges all design disciplines. There is a strong connection between all those fields in creation successful wayfinding design. This presentation not only aims to enrich the understanding of the process and practice involved in wayfinding design but also provides examples those to achieve excellence in signage system design we need to go beyond the signs as navigational needs to be satisfied.
