James Alexander’s talk on ‘Four Types of Political Theory’ in room A 130 at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21
Abstract:
In this talk James Alexander tries to impose some clarity on the question ‘What is Political Theory?’ by distinguishing four types of political theory as practised in the twentieth century – which I call with some justification positive, normative, ‘third way’ and sceptical. The point is to try to do justice to the great variety of approaches evident in the last century, scientific, liberal, radical and, cough, philosophical.
