MATH Seminar: “Faber Bases in Spaces of Continuous Functions on Small Sets,” Alexander Goncharov, SA-141, 4PM November 13 (EN)

Dear Colleagues and Students,

You are kindly invited to the Analysis Seminar organized by the Department of Mathematics.
Speaker: Alexander Goncharov (Bilkent University)

“Faber bases in spaces of continuous functions on small sets”

Abstract: Polynomial topological basis (Pn)n=0 in a function space is called a Faber basis if deg Pn = n for each n. Due to Faber, the space C[0,1] does not possess such bases. On the other hand, Faber bases were presented for some spaces of continuous functions defined on small compact sets. We review related results and discuss open problems in the field.
