GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

Requirements: These are minimum necessary requirements for applying to Curriculum and Instruction programs.

CGPA:
MA / MA with IB: 2.50 / 4.00
Ph.D: 3.00 / 4.00

ALES: 
MA / MA with IB: 60 (verbal)
Ph.D.: 60 (equally-weighted)
ALES is required for resident Turkish citizens who are applying for the M.A. and Ph.D. programs. Those applicants who are not Turkish citizens are required to submit a valid GRE score instead.

GRE: 
MA / MA with IB: verbal and quantitative total of 295 (950) and 3.5 in analytical writing
Ph.D.: verbal and quantitative total of 305 (1100) and 4.0 in analytical writing

GRE/ALES scores are valid for 5 years. GRE/ALES scores must be valid at the time of registration.

English Proficiency:
MA / MA with IB and Ph.D.: TOEFL IBT (at least 87) or IELTS Academic (6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each section), or Bilkent PAE (C)

For Ph.D., if you submit IELTS or Bilkent PAE scores only, you also need to satisfy the foreign language requirement as imposed by the Inter-Universities Board (ÜAK) of Turkey: at least 55 from YDS or its equivalent as listed by the Board, in a language other than the mother tongue must be submitted. If you plan to submit an equivalent score of TOEFL IBT to YDS, the test must be taken at one of the test centers in state universities (YÖK requirement).

All exam scores are considered valid for only two years, and they must be valid at the time of registration.

TOEFL IBT “Special Home Edition” test results will not be accepted.

Proof of Degree: Yes (if already obtained)

Transcripts: Yes (For Ph.D, undergraduate and graduate transcripts)

Statement of Purpose: A letter written in English describing past research and/or teaching experience or any other relevant experience, research interests, faculty members you are interested in working with, and motivations for applying for the program.

Letter of Recommendation: 2
