Bilkent Think Colourfully & Bilkent Cinematics Film Screening: “Dallas Buyers’ Club,” FFB-22, 6:30 PM December 1 (EN)

In honour of World AIDS Day (Dec. 1), Bilkent Think Colourfully/Renkli Düşün and Bilkent Cinematics are proud to unite to present one of the most provocative movies ever to come out of Hollywood about the AIDS crisis.

Dallas Buyers’ Club is the compelling and ultimately moving true-life story of Ron Woodroof (played by Matthew McConaughey in his Oscar-winning role), an unrepentant homophobe who contracts AIDS in the early days of the disease and gets involved in illegal pharmaceutical smuggling as a way to counteract the lack of government (and medical) support for AIDS victims. From Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallee (Wild) comes the story of a deeply unlikeable man who nonetheless helped many, and who moves very close, as the movie progresses….to empathy. Co-star Jared Leto also won an Oscar for his performance.

Screening will be on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 6:30 p.m., at FFB 22 . Junk food and refreshments will be served. All are welcome!

Bilkent Cinematics aims to bring film lovers together and create a community through screening and post-screening discussion of the chosen movies. Visit us at https://www.facebook.com/bilkentcinematics/? ref=ts
